Decathlon Sport 3 Road Bikes

Daniel Crisp By Daniel
Ok so we have now riden over 1700 miles on our Decathlon bikes (not including about 500 miles of training) so I think we are pretty well qualified to comment on them...

They have been brilliant. Comfortable to ride every day for long distances, great handling even at high speeds and very reliable. Other than punctures and wearing our brake pads out we have had no problems with them whatsoever. Touch wood (we still have about 250 miles to do!). Despite them being entry-level spec we haven't really been troubled by any other cyclists on more expensive equipment - in fact we have passed quite a few full carbon bikes without them keeping up.

The bright yellow paint definitely attracts attention - especially when there are five of them in a row all being riden by super fit professional cyclists like what we are! They also look pretty good even when covered in brake dust and mud.

The only gripe would be the Hutchinson Top Speed Kevlar Pro Tech tyres which have been pretty awful - of the 12 tyres 4 of them have failed. The sidewalls split and the inner tubes bubbled out. I don't understand why this happened, on a couple it was after only 200 miles. They have been replaced with the model down Hutchinson tyres (Quartz) which have been fine - it must have been a bad batch.

On the whole, brilliant bikes, if you are thinking of getting a bike pay a visit to Decathlon...

Thanks Decathlon and Bike Newham (for lending us the bikes)
