Who?

Clive Furness

Planning (remembering stuff we have forgotten)

Clive Furness Clive and his unusually short arms

Clive is the mastermind behind the previous excursion to Ethiopia and our planned work camp in Dominica. He also makes (along with a couple others) the Youth Club at the Swift happen on a Friday. He’ll be helping us organise our trip and even joining us for part of it.

He plays arguably one of the biggest roles in the Summer Camp by actually running it. He assumed the role of CO (commanding officer) after Nigel ended his 19 year reign in 2002 and has kept it alive and well since. Camp is once again expected to grow in numbers this year.

Clive’s vast job history has taken him around the world; from prisoner exchanges in Northern Iraq to tackling some of the deeply rooted problems in Newham as a councillor. From tackling armed robbers in the street to his new job as Finance and Operations Director at a new charity called StreetGames UK. There would be more details to tell you if he wasn’t so modest about it all.

A keen sportsman in the past, Clive has racked up many hours playing football, cycling and has a number of marathons and half marathons to brag about. Let’s just hope his taking to exercise hasn’t deteriorated too much come the summer.
