Who?

Daniel Crisp

Age: 24

Daniel Crisp Daniel enjoys visiting tunnels on holiday. Apparently this is his favourite.

Team Leader

Daniel, as you can see is the team leader. Clearly nothing to do with intelligence, the general theory is that he just acquired the title because of his age.

His father, Nigel Crisp, used to be the Boys' Brigade Captain and the summer camp CO so Daniel has been involved in both from a very young age. Daniel first attended summer camp aged just 9 months and has attended every year since making 2007 his 25th year. Daniel's roles at camp include advance party leader, retreat party leader, inspecting officer, camp banker, lead bugler, site manager, first aider, fixing stuff, driver, night walker scarer and entertaining campers with his wonky arm. Despite being a busy, long week Daniel maintains "its fun" and it is usually the highlight of his year.

Daniel started attending the Swift Centre when he was 8 years old and it was still the 98th London BB company. Since then he has attended almost every week (except while at uni) and has become a leader, again more through age and experience than anything else. When he manages to turn up on time (work is a long M25 commute away) he often organises football, volleyball or badminton - choosing to referee rather than playing to save embarassment.

One of the 6 footballers poached from the Swift Centre by the Morden Baptistas life-long West Ham United fan Daniel likes to keep fit running up and down the right wing avoiding headers. Regular 3-a-side training on Thursdays at the Swift has done nothing to improve his heading ability but at least his vicious shots are (almost) on target now.

Back in 1998 Daniel was part of the legendary football team that ran rings around the opposition at the BB Havering & Brentwood Batallion 5-a-side tournament. All the other teams had proper kits and girlfriends looking on, whereas in true 98th London / Swift Centre style we had £2 red t-shirts from Primark and Nigel cheering until his voice failed him. The 98th London went on to dominate the tournament for the next 4 years until it disbanded and became the Swift Youth Group who unfortunately cannot enter the BB competition (I'm sure the organisers are quite relieved).

He is also a keen cyclist which will help with this trip but has never riden further than 65 miles so this is going to be a major step up. Daniel used to be a member of the Newham Cycling Team and competed at the London Youth Games in 1994 and 1995. They never won anything but to be fair they were the only team on mountain bikes in shorts and t-shirts; every other team had nice road bikes and lycra kits!

A graduate of Staffordshire University Daniel now works for Webscript Designs doing something to do with websites and (allegedly) spends most of his time at work developing this one.
